A short description
The colon forms the last part of the digestive tract. It carries out a number of vital functions including the completion of the digestive processes. The colon protects us from infection and disease. Seventy percent of the immune system lives in the gut! In a healthy bowel the friendly, healthy, scavenging bacilli colli will easily control unhealthy bacteria. A healthy bowel will have complete elimination two to three times daily. A healthy bowel will have a transit time of food passing through our body of between 10 and 24 hours. Modern colonic hydrotherapy is the gentlest, safest and most effective way yet discovered of clearing out waste matter, faecal matter, gas, mucus and toxic substances which have become trapped in the colon. It uses – in its basics - a fairly simple system of purified water, gravity and specialised, disinfected tubing. To be efficient, a treatment requires a period between 30 and 40 minutes. At first, warm filtered water is fed into the lower bowel whilst you are on your left side. Then, after about 10 minutes, your therapist will ask you to turn onto your back. Using gentle massage techniques across your abdomen, she will be able to assist the elimination of waste and gas pockets. The waste water is piped away.

Herbal preparations may be added to the water for certain health conditions.

OUR NURSES

All our three female therapists are A.R.C.H. qualified, nurse trained and each has 15+ years of healthcare experience. A.R.C.H. therapists are naturopathic colon hydrotherapists and are members of the General Naturopathic Council which incorporates voluntary registation with the government. Our nurses possess excellent skills for diagnosing and advising in diet and nutrition; they are very experienced in colon hydrotherapy and they use massage, pressure points and herbal implants in addition to the treatment to achieve the best detox possible for your body. A colon hydrotherapy session at our clinic is invariably an educational experience in which you will learn about your body, your diet and your health; how it is affected by lifestyle and how it can be affected positively by you.

Angela Lawton RGN, as well her in-depth colonic, nutritional and naturopathic knowledge, has particular interest in chronic fatigue syndrome, allergies, parasites, leaky gut syndrome and environmental toxins. She is a Registered General Nurse with over 40 years experience in general medicine and is a member of A.R.C.H.. Angela uses disposable tubing for all her treatments with no extra cost. Angela has been a Reiki Master since 1998.

Jane Burt, was a trained nurse with over twenty years of nursing experience, as well as her in-depth colonic, nutritional and naturopathic knoweldge, has a particular interest in and knowledge of weight control issues - having to work with this herself over many years of her life. She has a particular intrest in using coffee as a detox tool. Jane is in the process of registering with A.R.C.H. and is a Reiki Master.
